The Trust for the Americas joins the LACChain Global Alliance.

Intending to collaborate to develop and promote blockchain-based solutions and benefiting the region, the Trust for the Americas joins the Global LACChain Alliance as a partner.

Today, The Trust for the Americas, the non-profit organization affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS), has joined the LACChain Global Alliance.

Through its access to decision-makers within the region and strong networks across member states and the private sector, The Trust for the Americas promotes social and economic inclusion for vulnerable communities in the Americas.

In this sense, the partnership is announced based on the common goal of promoting the meaningful implementation of blockchain technology and the development of the blockchain ecosystem in the region.

Aiming to contribute to a peaceful and just region, The Trust for the Americas and LACChain will seek to explore together use cases of interest of both parties and collaborate to promote and propose those related to public-permissioned blockchains.

Among some of the objectives of the Alliance are:

• Collaborate to expand existing solutions on blockchain that The Trust for the Americas has promoted.
• Hold closed and open on-/or off-site workshops, webinars, bootcamps, and other capacity-building opportunities.
• Coordinate via Social Media to reach the best possible output for joint events.
• Promote each other´s activities or initiatives.

Regarding this announcement, Rodrigo Iriani, Senior Program Manager of DIA-Democratizing Innovation in the Americas, representative of The Trust for the Americas, said:

“The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the need for technology solutions and nurtured the development of a vibrant GovTech ecosystem. Our first pilot projects using blockchain technology for commercial permits in two Municipalities of Costa Rica shows the potential of making government services transparent and efficient. The partnership with LACChain represents the possibility to expand and sustain these initiatives over time.”

With the incorporation of The Trust for the Americas, the LACChain Alliance is made up of 54 allies of the blockchain environment supporting public-private partnerships and blockchain-based solutions in 15 countries in the region, which currently supports the development of 34 projects with an impact on inclusion, with 105 nodes and 59 entities that execute nodes in a history of more than 28 million blocks.
