The Information and Communication Technologies for Research and Development Center (CINTEL) joins the global alliance LACChain.

The Information and Communication Technologies for Research and Development Center (CINTEL) will collaborate with LACChain to strengthen the development of the blockchain ecosystem in the region.

CINTEL, who carries out projects aimed at supporting the digital transformation of public and private companies, was created in 1991 and is considered the most experienced entity in innovation projects and technological development of the ICT sector in Colombia; it joins the global alliance LACChain, composed of different actors of the blockchain environment and led by the Innovation Lab of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Lab), to promote the adoption of this technology and the development of the blockchain ecosystem.

CINTEL and LACChain have proposed to work together for the use of LACChain’s blockchain infrastructure as a public permissioned network for the deployment of the dairy traceability application that the Research Center is developing to improve the operation in livestock farms through an application that allows tracing the origin and management of milk in its supply chain.

The alliance includes the agreement of institutional cooperation actions for disseminating methodologies, learning, and results obtained to provide lines of applied research in blockchain that benefit society.

In this sense, Manuel Martínez Niño, Executive Director of CINTEL, pointed out that “the alliance with LACChain will allow CINTEL to strengthen its Digital Innovation Hub (DigIHub), which is a technological ecosystem with the purpose to create the best conditions to support innovation and digital transformation of organizations, promoting the use, implementation, and appropriation of their business models using technology for this purpose.”

With the incorporation of the Information and Communication Technologies for Research and Development Center, the LACChain alliance is integrated by 64 allies in the blockchain environment, supporting public-private partnerships and blockchain-based solutions in 17 countries in the region. It has developed 51 projects with an impact on inclusion, with 213 nodes and 120 entities running nodes in a history of more than 52 million blocks.
